The Grade 3 division format is unique and focused on teaching game play and flow of the game. This allows the coaches to focus more on the fundamental skills such as dribbling, shooting, passing, rebounding, etc.
The first 4 games will be team drills played against the opposing team and will progress to playing full games of 3 on 3, this will be facilitated by an RCBA Master Coach. All the drills are geared towards greater opportunities for every player to be engaged and get more touches on the ball. At the end of the 4 weeks, they will begin to play 4 on 4 games.
Scores are not kept during games in this division. This is to increase player, coach, and parent focus on fun & development.
The RCBA hosts a 1 day tournament to wrap up our Grade 3 season. This allows players to end the season with a few extra game & is solely an event for fun!
Players will register in the zone they currently live in and identify what school they attend. We also record what nights they are NOT available to practice, and will try to place every player on a night that works for them. When drafting teams we take all these factors into account.
Practices: Due to Covid restrictions the number of gyms available will be reduced for November and December. As of now we do not know how may gyms we will have available and time will be added between each groups for cleaning, there may be a need to share a gym with another team. Practice locations and times may change after Christmas, we will do our best to have the same day of the week and similare time.
Starting in January every team practice will be held at the same facility at the same time every week. Practices are 1 hour long. While every effort is made to schedule a team's practice facility within their zone, due to facility availablity & participant numbers, somtimes is not possible.
Games: Teams will play weekly on Saturdays between 9:00am - 3:00pm, this may be extended past 3 in November & December as there will be time added for cleaning between games. The games are 75 minutes. Game time & location could be different every week.
