CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PLAYERS

Code of Conduct for Players  
1. I will treat all teammates, coaches, opponents and officials with respect, at all times, regardless of the situation.  
2. I will always play for fun. 
3. I will always play by the rules.  
4. I will never argue with the officials. If I have questions I will ask in a polite, respectful manner. 
5. I will never lose control of my emotions. I will not mouth off', throw balls or any other equipment.  
6. I will work equally hard for myself and my team.  
7. I will always be a good sport and a good teammate. I will cheer all good plays, whether they are my team's or my opponent's.  
8. I will always play the game with intent on improving my abilities. 
9. I will be patient with my teammates as they improve their game.  
10. I will always listen to and be respectful of my coach. I understand without all the Coaches who volunteer their time there would be no RCBA to participate in.  
11. I will attend all practices and games that I am able to attend. If I will be late or can’t make a practice/game I will notify my Coach. 
12. If I am sick, have any symptoms related to COVID 19, may have been exposed to COVID-19, have been diagnosed or are awaiting test results for COVID-19, I will notify the RCBA office immediately. I acknowledge that my failure to do so may result in my removal from the RCBA’s program without refund.  
13. I will abide by the new policies related to COVID-19. I acknowledge that any failure to do so on my part, be on purpose or accidental, may result in my removal from the RCBA’s programs without refund.  
14. I will not display any behavior or actions that may put another player, coach, or spectator at risk of injury or increase the risk of transmission of COVID-19. 
15. I will set a good example by always following the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s guidelines for safe behavior during the COVID-19 Pandemic.  
16. I will answer all pre-screening questions honestly and never lie about symptoms related to COVID-19 when at an RCBA facility. 



CODE OF CONDUCT FOR PARENTS/GUARDIANS 

Code of Conduct for Parents/Guardian and Spectators 
1. I will not force an unwilling child to participate in sports.  
2. I know that my child is involved in organized sports for their enjoyment, not mine.  
3. I will treat ALL coaches, parents, officials and players with respect always. 
4. I will set an example by showing respect, dignity and sportsmanship always.  
5. I will always encourage my child to play by the rules.  
6. I will encourage my child to display high levels of sportsmanship at all times, even in defeat.  
7. I will applaud good plays by my team and by members of the opposing team. I will never boo, taunt or scream at players, coaches or officials.  
8. I will never publicly question the officials' judgment and never their honesty.  
9. I recognize the value and importance of volunteer coaches. They give their time and resources to provide recreational activities for my child. If I have a concern, I will talk to the coach but do it in private. 
10. I will have my child at all RCBA schedules events on time. I will pick my child up at the scheduled finish time for all RCBA programs. If my child cannot attend, will be late arriving or being picked up, I will be courteous enough to notify the coach.  
11. If I or my child is sick, has any symptoms related to COVID 19, may have been exposed to COVID-19, or have been diagnosed or are awaiting test results for COVID-19, I will notify the RCBA office immediately. CODE OF CONDUCT FOR COACHES

Code of Conduct of Coaches 
1. I will treat all players, their parents and officials with respect at all times. I will not yell, use sarcasm or embarrass anyone in front of others.  
2. I will teach all players the rules of the game.  
3. I will avoid focusing on the talented players. I will make the team experience good for all players by letting everyone contribute.  
4. I will help all my players master basketball basics. I will coach with player development as my main priority, I will not coach for wins at the expense of player development. 
5. I will be patient with my players. I acknowledge players are going to make mistakes (missed shots, crucial turnovers, needless fouls, etc.) but I will coach with positivity and encouragement to improve player’s skills and decision making. I will help my players learn from those mistakes without cutting them down. 
6. I will have a positive rapport with officials and opposing coaches. I will never bully or intimidate them. I will always set the right tone for my team by never arguing a call or disparaging an official or coach. 
7. I will make a personal commitment to keep myself informed on rules, sound coaching principles and the principles of growth and development of children. I will contact the RCBA office for clarification of any rules. 
8. I will be responsible in my demands on the young player’s time, energy and enthusiasm.  
9. I will always follow the advice of a physician when determining when an injured player is ready to play again. I will never force a player to play through an injury. 
10. I will talk to my players and their parents to explain my philosophy and expectations at the beginning of the season. I will encourage parents to talk to me if they have a concern about their child. 
11. I will always be respectful of officials. If I have questions, I will wait for the appropriate stoppage of play to speak to the official. I will not yell, abuse, or belittle officials during a game EVER. I acknowledge that when the final whistle blows the game is over, I will not argue, or discuss the game with an official in an inappropriate manner.

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR OFFICIALS

 RCBA ‘PROFESSIONAL CONDUCT & VALUES’ EXPECT THE OFFICAL TO:

* Maintain a professional relationship toward the event, the players, the coaches, the spectators, gym supervisors, and the officiating partner.

* Be thorough in his/her preparation for the contest.

* Be on time for duty.

* Appear in appropriate uniform.

* Be mentally prepared - be rested and alert - for the contest; be on ‘top of his/her game’!

* Be ‘active’ throughout his/her game, no matter the level of play.

* Know the rules of the game as they apply to the various RCBA Divisions.

* Report any misconduct or breech of rules, sportsmanship, or fair play quickly and through the required process.

RCBA ‘FAIR PLAY VALUES’ EXPECT THE OFFICIAL TO:

* Know and consistently, to the best of their ability, apply / enforce RCBA/FIBA rules, regulations, philosophy, and mechanics.

* Make interpretations and announcements of such clear and fair to both teams.

* Adhere to right decisions despite disapproval of spectators, coaches, and players.

* Control his/her temper at all times in dealing with players, coaches and crowds.

* Respect and aid companion officials in making decisions.

RCBA ‘SPORTSMANSHIP & FUN VALUES’ EXPECT THAT THE OFFICIAL:

* Maintain a pleasant, impartial attitude toward all players, coaches, and spectators throughout the games being officiated.

* Encourage and develop camaraderie and friendship among your fellow officials.

* Carry out their duties so as not to distract from the players or the game.

* Discourage any acts of poor sportsmanship.

* Carry out assigned duties pertaining to the regulation and promotion of sportsmanship.

RCBA ‘DEVELOPMENT VALUES’ EXPECT THAT THE OFFICIAL:

* Maintain an excellent understanding and application of the rules of the game (FIBA/RCBA) and game level being officiated.

* Attend professional development, workshop, or rule clinics on a regular basis to continue to work on their professional development as an official.

* Write the Rules Exam each year.

* With experience, work with / mentor their fellow new or less experienced officials / colleagues to support them in their growth as an official.



CODE OF CONDUCT FOR OUR BOARD OF DIRECTORS & STAFF

1. I will uphold the values of the RCBA by holding myself to the highest standard of being respectful towards others at all times.
2. I will always conduct myself in a professional manner when representing the RCBA at practices, games, tournaments and special events.
3. While representing the RCBA at any event, I will uphold the RCBA values, mission and vision by holding players, coaches, parents and fans accountable for their behaviour.
4. I will serve the RCBA honestly and in good faith that I will work in the best interest of the RCBA
5. I will not approach the RCBA or its Board of Directors decision making process with a personal agenda of any sort.
6. If I am in a position of conflict of interest with the RCBA and any other party I will disclose this with the RCBA Board of Directors immediately.
7. I will demonstrate my commitment to the RCBA and its Board of Directors by making meetings, representing the RCBA at events, and involvement in the league a priority.
8. I will help the Board of Directors solve complex problems by approaching these issues with an open mind to multiple ways to solve these problems.
9. I will not try to influence other Board members outside of RCBA Board Meetings to try and push a personal agenda, or limit open discussions on how to solve problems.
10. Once a Board decision is made, support the decision even if you’re view did not line up with the decision made.
11. I will not discuss differing opinions of other board members on any subjects, or any private information I have access to as a RCBA Board Member outside the RCBA Board’s channels of communication unless I have permission to do so from the RCBA Board of Directors.
